TERRA AND BLOOM

Fort Works Art proudly presented Terra and Bloom, a 2-person exhibition by Alonsa Guevara and Kerri Menchaca, in the downstairs gallery during FWADA Spring Gallery Night 2025. In this vibrant and colorful show, Menchaca and Guevara use nature as a profound source of inspiration in their different styles of painting.

Menchaca, a native Texan, draws inspiration from the rugged beauty of rural Texas, capturing the fleeting brilliance of its vast landscapes. With a background in realism and a deep appreciation for the land, Menchaca’s paintings evoke the serene essence of the state’s untouched natural beauty. Alonsa Guevara, originally from Chile and now based in New York, celebrates the connection between humanity and nature in her vivid fruit still lifes. Her paintings, inspired by her childhood in the Ecuadorian rainforest, blur the lines between fantasy and reality, inviting viewers to explore the personal and emotional ties that bind us to the natural world.

To elevate the visual experience, Wire Nest presented original compositions created exclusively for this exhibition. Renowned for blending electronic and organic sounds, their music spans a wide range of genres, from ambient and dub to experimental. The performance was designed to cultivate a seamless atmosphere that enhances the art on display.

The exhibition opened on March 29, 2025, in conjunction with Spring Gallery Night.
